Gambia’s minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad has expressed anger at some unscrupulous individuals who are using his name and pictures on Instagram to extort money from vulnerable Gambians.
Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, who is also leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), said these individuals are targeting Gambians in the Diaspora, particularly those in desperate need to regularise their immigration status.
He said these individuals will make contact with the Diaspora Gambians who are made to believe that they are in conversation with him for a way out of their difficulties, in return for a fee.
Mr Darboe clarified that he does not have an Instagram account nor is he online to enter into any conversation with any Gambian regarding their immigration status anywhere in the world.
