Gambia international Modou Secka Barrow at the weekend donated a cash prize of Fifty-thousand Dalasis (D50, 000) to the committee of Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium.
This gesture from the Gambia professional player is meant to help the committee renovate its mini-stadium.
Modou Secka Barrow is a Gambian professional player who plays for Reading Football Club in the English Championship.
This amount is aim to help the new committee of the SESDO to renovate the community’s mini-stadium as the ‘Nawettan’ set to commence.
Speaking during the handing over at the ongoing Late Wonto Memorial tournament organized by the former Swansea City forward, Modou Lamin Beyai, Modou Barrow’s PR Manager said that this amount from the Gambian player is meant to help the new executive of the Serekunda East Committee in their quest to develop the mini-stadium.
According to him, this donation will be the first of many as they like giving back to the community where he belongs, adding that they are going to be willing to support and initiate themselves in whatever the Serrekunda East committee is doing towards to the development of the football pitch.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Serrekunda East Committee, the PRO of the Serrekunda East Committee, Alkali Jammeh thanked Modou Barrow and his team for the wonderful and timely gesture, adding that this gesture would serve as a springboard for the committee to kick start their renovation in the mini-stadium.
He said that as the new Serrekunda East Committee came with the aim and intention to develop the community’s playing ground, adding that in their management they will transparency as well as welcome ideas and support from anybody.
He went on to urge other Gambian professionals to emulate Modou Barrow whose continuous support to the community is paying dividend
