Health Ministry welcomes Big Dreams partnership

Director of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has said they welcome and appreciate their partnership with Big Dreams Inc. in the implementation of their intervention projects.

Big Dreams Inc. is an innovative, creative and cutting edge 501(c)(3) organisation focusing on the creation of educational opportunities for children and youth in the United States and The Gambia to live healthier lifestyle.

Speaking to The Point reporter on Wednesday following a meeting with Amy Jordheim, chairman of Medical Advisory Board at International Medical Relief Organization, Modou Njie said the health ministry is pleased with Ms. Jordheim’s presentation and meeting with them including Big Dreams readiness to partner with his ministry in implementing their interventions.

He said Madam Jordheim’s presentation highlighted lot of intervention areas but they have to provide a concept note and sign MOU with the ministry that will explain how they intend to collaborate.

Ms. Jordheim visited The Gambia from 2nd to 4th April at the invitation of the Health Ministry to discuss the International Medical Relief Organization (IMR) and Big Dreams partnership work which intends to bring licensed team of medical and dental professionals together with health educators to The Gambia.

Ms. Jordheim said IRM would play an important role in providing healthcare to Gambians, saying they are looking forward to returning in September with a full team that will consist of medical and dental professionals, health educators and researchers as well as professional and unprofessional graduate students.

She declared they would be focusing on people who cannot afford or receive health education or healthcare at the time.

Pa Lamin Sawo of Big Dreams The Gambia Chapter said their mission is to support government efforts in the provision of healthcare to the people of The Gambia. He added that they have been working with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in supporting education and nutrition in the country but last year, they expanded to health.
