Over D40M paid to Jammeh as allowances.

Over D40.2 million was paid to the exiled former President Yahya Jammeh from 2007 to 2013 as travel allowances and other expenses, Accountant General Momodou Lamin Bah revealed to the Janneh Commission yesterday.
Mr Bah was summoned by the inquiry in connection with the salaries, emoluments of the former president, wife and top military aide General Sulayman Badjie.
Mr Bah further revealed that the total payment made to the president in 2014 as travel allowances and per diems was over D10.9 million.
Accountant General Bah however told the inquiry that his office could not trace the total amount of allowances paid to Jammeh from July 1994 to 2017 as well as the increment in his salary when he was the chairman of the council from 1994 to 1997.

He clarified that the former first lady was not entitled to a salary but travel allowance and per diems and the total payment made to her from January 2007 to 2017 was D4, 058, 794. 60.
Mr Bah further explained that the gross salary of the former president as of 1994 when he was a lieutenant was D2, 744. 20 while as of January 2017 his gross salary was D170, 000.
He revealed that according to General Sulayman Badjie’s payroll, he was earning a gross salary of D623.70 as a recruit in 1994 and D31, 080. 10. by January 2017. Kaw Yerro.#Gambia
