Muhammed Barrham Jobe, son of Imam Barrham Jobe, of the Khadafi Mosque in Serekunda has been hailed by number of Islamic scholars for winning his third Quranic Recitation Award in two years.
Young Jobe’s last triumph came after recently winning the Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass International Quranic Recitation Award in Senegal, which is organised every Ramadan by the ‘Khaliff General de Nyassen’ in Medina Bai Nyass in Kaolack, Senegal.
The Medina Quranic recitation competition is meant to test and promote the best standards of reciting the Holy Quran and brings together competitors from Muslim countries around the World.
Hailing the tremendous achievement registered by young Barrham Jobe, the Imam of State House Alh Mustapha Jallow said the young man deserves to be celebrated for putting the country in the world map for all the good reasons.
Imam Alh Alieu Mboge, the chairman of Banjul Muslim Elders said winning an international trophy is not the first of its kind for young Barrham Jobe.
He recalled another international Quranic Recitation trophy he won in Dubai and Qatar last year. He urged Gambians to come together and value the level at which young Jobe raised the Gambian flag describing it as a great achievement.

“This is another clear signal that Gambia has lot of talents…And I believe Jobe’s achievement will inspire many young people to work harder to reach his level,” he said.
Speaking at the VIP Lounge of the GPA, Baboucarr Cham, director of City Limits Radio who acted as laison for the occasion, said this year’s edition was the sixth and involved ninety-two participants from different countries.
He said this is the first time The Gambia is participating in the competition. “It is a tremendous achievement for us to win the trophy in the first time of asking”.
Meanwhile, Muhammed Barrham Jobe thanked his parents and the Gambian population for their support and urged young people to work hard “because victory belongs to only those who work hard.”
The victorious Muhammed was received by the Banjul Muslim Elders led by the Imam of State House Alh Mustapha Jallow, who represented The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council, relatives, parents and well-wishers.
