Gambian President donates to victorious WAFU U20 Team

Gambian President Adama Barrow has donated D250,000:00 ( Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dalasis ) equivalent to $5,200 (Five Thousand, Two Hundred dollars) as part of his personal contribution to the National U-20 team on Friday, May 11th at a ceremony held at the State House.

This follows the Young Scorpions’ triumphant Victory at the recently concluded WAFU Finals in Liberia where the Gambia emerged Champions.

The donated cash amount was handed to the team through the GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo at the end of the meeting with players and stakeholders.

The handing over of the cash was presented to the team by GFF General Secretary Lamin Jassey through the team captain Basirou Mbye alongside Head Coach Mattar Mboge.

The team had earlier in the Semifinal of the tournament benefited from similar donations made by the President of Liberia – George Weah, an amount of $10, 000 dollars.

The Young Scorpions of the Gambia will on Sunday 13th May host Benin in the first leg of the second round of theAFCON U20 qualifier for Niger 2019 at Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The return leg is in a week time in Benin.

The winner from both legs will face the winner between Ghana/Algeria in the final phase of qualifiers.
