A long, heated dispute had ensued between the neighbouring villagers of Gambia and Senegal after Gambian Fire Service officer, Ansumana Drameh was shot in the legs.

Our reporter has been informed that the arrested Senegalese has hinted Gambian authorities that they were with Senegalese authorities and some intelligence officers.

Mr. Drammeh, an officer of The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) who was posted in Bansang in the Central River Region (CRR) has been shot in his legs by neighbouring villagers of Senegal around Jahanka village in the Upper Fulladou District, as he was mediating to settle a dispute.

The incident came as fighting erupted between border villages of Kerr-Yerro and Jahanka.

Drammeh was rushed to the Bansang hospital for medical attention, however, he was referred to Banjul for further medical treatment.

The culprit has been arrested in attempt to run into Senegal, sources say. He was detained at the Bansang Police Station as investigation into the matter continues.
