According to the press statement from the OP, President Barrow acting on powers vested on him by the constitution has decided to appoint Mr.Mamburay Njie as the new finance minister following the cabinet reshuffled.Mr. Njie’s appointment is unacceptable and has to be rescinded. Mr.Njie is someone who benefited tremendously and operated in Jammeh’s money scam for the past 22 years of Jammeh’s authoritarian rule. Mr.Njie was a chief enabler to Jammeh, occupying top government jobs including ministerial positions.
What is even more interesting is that Mr. Njie is still giving evidence at the Janneh commission regarding his role in Jammeh’s money scam. People like Mr.Njie shouldn’t have occupied any government job until the commission declare them clean, but unfortunately, he was the MD GNPC until his appointment as finance minister today. For whatever reason, our clueless President has decided to appoint him at the expense of Gambians, with all due respect this is not a fair appointment considering Mr.Njie’s evil role in enabling Jammeh.I, therefore, urge President Barrow to rescind his appointment pending the outcome of the Janneh’s commission in a months time. Whatever the outcome, the recommendations of the commission would be interesting.
Below is the Press Statement from Cabinet Appointment
