The cause of the major power shortage is larger than the Karpower plant fault reported by NAWEC.
It’s understandable that Karpower plant can develop technical problems but the severity of the power shortage could have been averted if NAWEC’s own generating set were available. NAWEC should explain to the Gambian population why their generators are being used to minimize the current shortage.
Prior to the start of commercial operation of the Karpower plant, NAWEC was using its generators to provide some level of electricity supply. What is happening with these generators and why are they not being used by NAWEC. Something is certainly not right and NAWEC owes the Gambian credible and honest explanation.
