The new vice president of the Republic of The Gambia, Ousainou Darboe, has told President Adama Barrow that he will be by his side to help him deliver The Gambia as he aspires.
Darboe was speaking yesterday after he along with eight other ministers were sworn-in at a ceremony president over by President Barrow at State House.
“Your Excellency, as you lead The Gambia free and democratic and peace with itself, I shall be by your side to help you deliver The Gambia you aspire to.”
The new vice president acknowledged the success and recognition The Gambia has gained under Barrow’s leadership. “Under your leadership, The Gambia has regained its rightful place in the family of nations with our friends in the broader international community standing by us to help consolidate democracy, to stabilise and rebuild our economy and produce a democratic dividend for our people who face numerous challenges both in short and medium terms.”
“The New Gambia which you lead has notwithstanding difficulties associated with nations emerging from dictatorship tremendous opportunities to build strong foundation for a free, prosperous and enjoying democracy for succeeding generation of Gambians.”
The UDP party leader pledged his unflinching support to the president in his endeavours.
“As your vice president, I pledge to spend my every weaken moment to help you our elected leader also push the agenda and vision you have outlined for Gambian people. The Gambia that you envision is one that reflects the aspirations of the people in its emphasis on strengthening diversity, unity of purpose in pursuit of social justice enrolment of the supremacy of the law.”
Darboe informed the president of the respect The Gambia has outside its borders and he promised to ensure that respect continues.
“In my previous assignment as your Foreign minister, nothing felt better than hearing the respect and admiration for you personally and the Gambian people in the countries we visited. My colleagues in the cabinet and I will continue to give our optimum and we are determined to surmount each and every challenge however difficult it may be so that you personally as well as Gambian people will continue to enjoy the respect and admiration with countries we interact with at both bilateral and multilateral levels.”
