Amadou Scattered Janneh Joins UDP
Dr. Amadou Scattered Janneh, a onetime minister of Information and Communication, Infrastructure during the former government has switched allegiance to the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Dr. Janneh who was sentenced to life in prison for treason after distributing T-shirts with the slogan: “End to Dictatorship Now” said that he was very excited to be part of the ‘mighty UDP,’ noting that he is also very glad to the party leader, Ousainou Darboe for opening the doors for him to join the party, as they were both fighting for justice and democracy in the Gambia.
“I will do everything I can to push the type of agenda that the party stands for, especially human rights and development of the country,” he said
While welcoming him to the party in America, Ousianou Darboe, on Friday equally thanked Dr. Janneh for joining the UDP, noting that they have tried in their own dignified ways to bring The Gambia to where it is today
“We have assigned ourselves the role of taking Gambia further and we have gained our political emancipation but there is more to be done so as to help Gambians to live better life we all yearn for,” he said.
According to him, they both could have stayed out of this, but if they do that, they would be betraying their aunts, sisters and uncles if they don’t continue with the struggle.
He finally presented the UDP colour to Amadou Scattered Janneh, which he said was given to him by the UDP-chapter in Seattle, America.
