APRC Leaders Visit Affected Faraba Family Victims

Soon after news of murder and bloodshed reached APRC Bureau yesterday, the APRC Party Leader, Fabakary Tombong Jatta, and his executive visited affected families and individuals who were involved in the incidents yesterday. In the current situation of a leadership vacuum in The Gambia, villagers were appreciative of the leadership shown by APRC Leaders who managed to calm the situation down as well as console families of the deceased and injured at the same time.

Yesterday, a simple, peaceful and unarmed demonstration descended into chaos and bloodbath when Security Forces opened fire at unarmed protesters, killing 3 and wounding 19.

When APRC government faced protests at Kartong Sand Mines, no weapons were used by forces. Protesters were arrested and detained but later released without further action.
Protests against environmental degradation aren’t an immediate life and death situation. Why give Security Forces guns, bullets and order to shoot and kill harmless civilians?

Gambia faces a huge leader leadership problem.
We urge the silent president to investigate thoroughly and take immediate action on all fronts and bring all those responsible before the courts.
